Voice over IP networks are replacing the fixed telephony networks everywhere. Despite this new communication technology, a lot of telephony calls today are still handled by the PSTN telephony network.
Although investments in the PSTN networks are kept as low as possible, operators need to keep their lawful interception solutions in operation. LIMA provides a very cost-effective solution to start with. But, as the migration of the network to VoIP progresses, the LIMA solution can be migrated also. By means of its flexible adapter architecture, a traditional LIMA circuit switched mediation solution can be migrated to a fully IP based system. Even hybrid solutions are possible; handling both traditional telephony as well as VoIP on the same system.
